More Than A Best Friend
No one could have prepared me for the way my life would change practically overnight.
Once it became apparent that the symptoms I had been experiencing for a while were not going away, I spent months undergoing testing and received not one, but three diagnoses.
Having both raised puppies and worked as an employee of Canine Companions, I saw firsthand how service dogs change lives, and knew the same could be true for me. I applied for a service dog in 2022 and got matched with my Danny Girl on May 1, 2023.
Danny has changed my life in more ways than I could have dreamed! She not only performs various alerts but she also helps with numerous tasks that are challenging for me to do alone. Every day I am provided independence, love, and the chance to live a fulfilling life thanks to my sweet Danny Girl.
Now I have incredible opportunities to educate the public not only on service dogs, but more specifically service dogs for people with invisible disabilities like mine. Through Danny's Instagram, @survivingwithdanny, and in public on a day-to-day basis, we strive to bring education and joy to others!
